Pune, 17th April 2021: The Pune municipal corporation (PMC) has started a 24 hours ambulance service in the city. To implement this initiative, 56 new ambulances have been made available by PMC.

As the Covid-19 infected patients are increasing in the city, demand for ambulances is also increased. Many people require an ambulance with an oxygen facility as the oxygen level of the patient drops gradually.

Many inquiries came for an ambulance on government helpline number 108. But as the demand is higher, people have to wait for hours to get the ambulance. There was a demand to increase the number of ambulances. Considering this demand, the PMC decided to increase the number and made the service available for 24 hours in the city.

Under this initiative, 56 new ambulances have been made available by PMC. The total number of ambulances reached up to 101, out of these 23 vehicles will be working as hearse vans, while 78 vehicles will be utilized as an ambulance for the patient. The oxygen facility is made available in 63 ambulances and 11 ambulances have been reserved for the patient other than COVID-19 infected patients. Out of these 78 ambulances, 56 will be given services for 24 hours. The facility will be available for free.
