Pune: Micro Containment Zones Increased By 125 Within A Week; Total Number Reaches 497

Pune, 17th April 2021: As the Covid -19 virus is spreading rapidly in the city, the number of people infected with the virus is increasing. Consequently, the number of micro containment zones increased by 125 within a week in Pune city. Currently, there are 497 containment zones under various ward offices of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

The building where a minimum of 5 patients found positive with Coronavirus, which is being declared as a micro containment zone by the PMC. Earlier, the Aundh-Baner ward office area had the highest number of containment zones. But in the last week, patients have increased in the Sahkarnagar-Dhankawadi ward office area; therefore, the area is constituting a higher number of containment zones these days.

According to data revealed by PMC, out 15 ward office areas, 3 ward office area has more than 50 containment zones which include Sahkarnagar-Dhankawadi ward office area, Warje-Karvenagar ward office area and Aundh-Baner ward office area. In the rest 12 ward offices area, the number of containment zone is below 50.

Currently, Hadapsar and Mundhawa area have the highest number of positive patients. But as the patients are found in the societies only, the number of containment zones is still stable. While in Dhankwadi -Sahakarnagar area the number of patients is increasing rapidly.
