Pune: PMC Approves Purchase Of Equipment For Treatment Of Respiratory Disorders Of Newborns

Pune, 30th September 2021: The Standing Committee of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) today approved the purchase of equipment required for the treatment of respiratory disorders of newborns born in the maternity hospitals of the PMC.

 

Standing Committee chairman Hemant Rasne said, “Out of the babies born every day in the Pune Municipal Corporation’s maternity hospitals, an average of ten babies have difficulty in breathing at birth. Lack of oxygen supply can damage the baby’s brain or cause some babies to die. The Standing Committee today approved the purchase of seven new pieces of equipment worth Rs 7.5 lakh each to avert this menace.”

 

These pieces of equipment will be made available in the municipal hospital in Shivajinagar also. They will also be useful for treating covid positive newborns also, Rasne added.
