Pune: PMC Blacklists 13 Contractors For Poor Road Conditions
Pune, 23rd September 2022: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has blacklisted 13 contractors for 17 roads for six months due to potholes in the city’s roads during the Defect Liability Period (DLP). The contractors have also been fined, with junior engineers and divisional engineers being fined Rs 15,000 each. Apart from this, seven executive engineers have been warned.
During this monsoon, potholes were created in most parts of the city – on the main roads and the roads in the lanes. Because of this, the Municipal Corporation was criticized. After this, the municipal administration asked for a report of the roads under liability from the road department. Accordingly, the road department prepared a list of roads under liability and submitted it to the superiors. This list was given by the Municipal Corporation to a third-party organization called ‘Engineers India Limited’ and entrusted with the task of surveying the relevant roads. This company submitted its report to the Municipal Corporation on 29th July.
This report includes photos of each road and the current status. It has been observed that most potholes have fallen on 17 roads. Action has already been taken against three of 17 contractors and fines were taken from them. Road repairs during the defect liability period will be carried out by the respective contractors. They will also be fined, said the high-ranking officials of the municipality. Accordingly, City Engineer Prashant Waghmare reviewed the report and recommended action to the Additional Commissioner and Commissioner.
The city engineer recommended that the contractors concerned be blacklisted for one year. But the Commissioner has ordered the blacklist of these officers for six months instead of one year.
Action was taken against Deepak Construction, Dhanraj Asphalt, S. S. Construction, Shree Yogesh Construction, Shubham Construction, Deokar Earthmovers, Vinod Mutha, Ganesh Enterprises, U. R. Facility, Shreyas Construction, Adarsh Bharat Enviro Pvt. Ltd., Paveway Construction, and Sunshine Constructions.
