Pune 3rd Oct 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation has blamed shortage of funds for the poor maintenance of city roads. According to officials, the civic body needs a total of Rs 7,00 Crore to maintain 1,400 km of city roads while the provision made in the budget was only Rs 193 Crore.

This comes at a time when the municipal corporation is blamed for the poor condition of roads. The civic body had earlier claimed that the potholes were filled by the officials before the monsoon. However, the activists blamed the officials for not carrying out works.

The municipal commissioner in an order had asked the officials from the road department to complete the road repair before October 7 and has warned of an action for failing to complete the task in time. The civic body was blamed after it announced to implement Mission 15 VIP Roads project. The activists and citizens have demanded that the municipal corporation should first focus on keeping the existing roads in better condition before taking any such project.
