Pune: PMC Bulldozes Illegal Constructions in Baner, Frees 19,850 Sq Ft Land
Baner, 19th December 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Thursday carried out a major demolition drive against illegal constructions in the Baner area, clearing encroachments spread over nearly 19,850 square feet of land.
The action was undertaken by the PMC Building Development Department, Zone No. 3, on December 18. Illegal structures, including unauthorised hotels, tin sheds, and permanent constructions erected without permission, were demolished at River Front Society near Jupiter Chowk and on properties adjacent to the Baner Covid Centre.
Civic officials said that as many as 15 notices had earlier been served to the concerned property owners. However, as the unauthorised structures were not removed despite repeated notices, the civic body proceeded with direct demolition.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of the PMC Superintending Engineer and led by the Executive Engineer of Building Department Zone No. 3. The demolition drive was carried out with the involvement of deputy engineers, junior engineers, other civic staff, an assistant police inspector, and police personnel to maintain law and order.
For the operation, two JCB machines, one gas cutter, and a team of ten encroachment removal workers were deployed.
