PMC Cracks Down on Encroachments in Kondhwa, Aundh, Nagar Road Areas

Pune, 2nd April 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation on Thursday carried out a large-scale demolition drive against unauthorised constructions across multiple parts of the city.

The action was undertaken under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Somnath Bankar and Chief Security Officer Ramesh Shelar, who also heads the encroachment and illegal construction removal department. The drive began around 9 am and covered areas including Kausar Baug, Kondhwa Khurd, Wanowrie, old Kondhwa limits, the burning ghat riverfront stretch, Nagar Road and Aundh.

According to officials, a total of 37,880 sq ft of illegal temporary and permanent structures were demolished during the operation. The civic body had deployed a sizeable team comprising engineers, officials from the building development department, and encroachment removal staff to carry out the drive.

For the operation, the civic administration had mobilised five police personnel, 25 Maharashtra Security Force (MSF) personnel, two JCB machines, two gas cutters, and around 70 labourers.

Officials said the demolition drive is part of an ongoing effort by the civic body to curb unauthorised constructions and encroachments in the city.
