Pune, 18th February 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) demolished more than 30,600 square feet of illegal constructions across multiple parts of Pune as part of a coordinated enforcement drive against unauthorised structures.

Acting on clear directives from the municipal commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, the encroachment and unauthorised construction removal department launched simultaneous operations from 9 am in areas including Peth, Kharadi, Baner–Sus Road BDP zone, and Chintamani Nagar and Dugad Nagar in Hadapsar’s newly added limits. Temporary and permanent sheds, tin structures and masonry constructions erected without permission were razed using JCB machines and breakers. In some locations, gas cutters were used to dismantle iron structures.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Somnath Bankar and Chief Security Officer and Assistant Department Head Dr Ramesh Shelar. The team included officials from the Building Development Department such as Pravin Bhavsar, Rahul Sorte and Deputy Engineer Vivek Dubbewar, along with encroachment department personnel including Umesh Godge, Vishnu Taur, Sakpal, Ajit Sanas, Sandeep Chabukswar, Vishwanath Bote and Rajesh Dhumal.

For the drive, authorities deployed 12 municipal police personnel, 25 MSF Jawan, four JCB machines, three gas cutters, three breakers, six encroachment inspectors and 35 labour staff.

Civic officials said the action sends a clear warning against the rising number of illegal constructions, particularly in BDP zones and newly merged areas, stressing that violations of building norms will not be tolerated.
