Pune: PMC Likely To Demolish A Pillar Of Sinhagad Road Flyover As Inspection Finds Flaws In It

Pune 25th August 2023: A recent inspection conducted by the officials of the Pune Municipal Corporation found some flaws in one of the pillars of the Sinhagad Road flyover due to which the civic officials are likely to demolish the pillar to ensure safety of the flyover and citizens. However, the decision to demolish the flyover will only be taken after cross-verifying the work, said officials.
According to reports, one of the pillars of the flyover may have issues related to the design and quality of material used to construct it. The officials have highlighted concerns about it after the recent inspection. A cross-verification will be conducted by the concerned officials to take a call on whether to demolish the pillar or refurbish it.
This has sparked speculations whether the project will be completed in time and the amount being spent on it. Several activists have also blamed the poor quality work conducted by the contractors and have demanded action against them. Meanwhile, citizens residing in the area are also concerned as they have been facing heavy traffic jams on the Sinhagad Road since the flyover construction work started. They claim that their problem will continue for more days if the civic body decides to demolish the flyover and reconstruct it since it will increase the expected time to complete the work.
