Pune: Refrain From Nailing Illegal Banners, Hoardings On Trees Or Face Action, PMC To Start Taking Action Against Offenders From Monday

Pune 25th August 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation has warned of action against people involved in causing damage to trees in the city by nailing banners, hoardings or lighting on it. The civic body has launched a campaign for it and said that a strict action will be taken against the offenders from Monday.
A notice directing citizens to refrain from such activities and asking them to remove such advertisements from trees was issued on August 18. The officials said that the offenders shall be punishable as per the provisions of Maharashtra (Urban Areas) Protection and Preservation of Trees Act 1975. According to the rule, no citizen is allowed to fell or cause damage to any tree, whether of his own or otherwise in the urban areas.
The concerned officials at the ward office level have been instructed to take strict action against offenders in their areas. Earlier, the civic body officials used to remove such advertisements and nailings from trees on their own. However, now the civic officials have warned of strict action against the offenders as a warning was already issued to remove such nailing a week ago.
