Pune: PMC Makes Special Arrangement For Daily Surgeries On Mucormycosis Patients

Pune, 21st May 2021: Considering the rising number of Mucormycosis cases, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to conduct surgeries on the patients of Mucormycosis daily. And for that has made special arrangements at Dalvi Hospital in Shivajinagar area of the city.

According to PMC officials, every day 10 surgeries will be conducted on the Mucormycosis patients. The operation theatre will be kept open for them for 24 hours. The treatment will begin within a fortnight once all the arrangements are in place.

In the second wave of Covid-19, suddenly there is a considerable rise in the cases of Mucormycosis. The treatment for this fungal disease is costly. To enable the patients to take the treatment at an adequate rate, the facility is being created at Dalvi hospital.

As many as 15 beds will be available for these patients at the hospital. For conducting the surgery, help will be taken from expert doctors from private hospitals. We are trying to conduct 25 surgeries in the next few days, informed additional municipal commissioner Rubal Agarwal.

Facilities at the hospital
• Patients from PMC limits will be given preferences
• Treatment will be given under Urban Poor scheme
• Number of ICU beds to be increased
• Expert doctors will be available 24 hours
• Independent helpline for these patients
• Special ambulance
