Pune: PMC Officials Flag Harassment by ‘Activists’, Seek Action from Commissioner
Pune, 9th April 2026: Officials of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) have submitted a letter to the municipal commissioner expressing serious concern over alleged misconduct, pressure tactics and misuse of social media by certain self-proclaimed social activists targeting civic officials and staff.
In their memorandum, the officials stated that as per Maharashtra government rules, individual complaints should be accepted only from the concerned person, and complaints made by third parties are not to be entertained. However, they alleged that some individuals are violating these provisions and attempting to exert undue pressure on the administration.
The officials further pointed out that there has been a rise in incidents where incomplete or misleading information is being circulated on social media, which they claim is tarnishing the image of the civic administration.
Taking note of the concerns, the municipal commissioner assured that appropriate action would be taken against such individuals. This includes filing police complaints, directing authorities to initiate preventive measures, and considering restrictions on their entry into municipal offices.
The officials have demanded strict legal action against those involved in such activities and urged the administration to implement immediate measures to ensure that civic functioning is not disrupted.
