Pune, 7th March 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued suspension orders to construction projects that have failed to implement measures to control pollution. This move comes as a response to the ongoing environmental concerns in the city, where numerous construction sites have been violating regulations aimed at reducing dust pollution. PMC has identified 208 projects that have not adhered to guidelines such as covering construction sites with green nets, erecting high partitions, sprinkling water on the ground, and using equipment to monitor dust levels.

Only 55 projects have complied with these regulations and have been allowed to resume work. However, around 200 projects remain non-compliant, and PMC is planning to file complaints against them with the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB). This could lead to further complications for these projects. City Engineer Prashant Waghmare emphasized that adherence to pollution control norms is essential, especially given the severe air pollution affecting residents.

PMC will take strict action against projects that continue to disregard these directives, which could exacerbate their operational challenges.
