Pune, 23rd December 2022: On the occasion of the G-20 conference, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has suspended its decision to buy 100 artificial trees on lease agreement by spending Rs 20 lakh. Instead of getting 100 artificial trees, 10 such trees will be taken from corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds.

The G-20 conference will be held in the city in January. Representatives from the national and international levels will be present for this conference. On the occasion of this conference, the municipal corporation has emphasized the beautification of roads. As a part of it, under the name of beautification and electric lighting, the electricity department of the municipal corporation had decided to take 100 artificial trees on lease by spending Rs 20 lakh. However, the municipality was criticized for this decision.

The electrical department of the municipal corporation is responsible for lighting the main roads and intersections of the city. It was planned to take 100 artificial trees on lease for eight days and keep them at the airport to Senapati Bapat road. The municipality was going to pay a rent of around Rs 20,000 for each tree.

But some institutions and organizations demanded that real trees should be conserved instead of these artificial trees, and the wastage of money should be stopped. Therefore, the commissioner has ordered the electricity department to suspend the decision.
