Pune: PMC Presents Rs 9515 Crore Budget, Eight New Flyovers To Be Build To Resolve Traffic Problems

Pune, 24th March 2023: The Pune Municipal Commissioner, Vikram Kumar, announced the 2023-24 annual budget of Rs 9,515 crore today. A big announcement has been made to solve the problem of traffic congestion in Pune city.

Compared to last year, Rs 923 crore has been added to this year’s budget. The most significant provision in this year’s budget has been made for water supply, with a provision of Rs 1,321 crore. Additionally, Rs 812 crore has been announced for decontamination in the city, and Rs 846 crore for solid waste management.

Furthermore, Rs 590 crore has been allocated for traffic planning and projects, while Rs 992 crore has been allocated for roads in Pune. Additionally, Rs 459 crore was announced for PMPML, while Rs 468 crore is allotted for primary and secondary education in Pune city and Rs 505 crore for health.

The Commissioner also said that the PMC would announce a reward for regular property taxpayers, with a provision of Rs one crore made for the same. In this year’s budget, there has been no increase in property tax and water tax rates for Pune residents.

To solve the traffic congestion in Pune city, eight new flyovers will be constructed. Special provision has also been made for 23 newly included villages. Additionally, about Rs 3,100 crore will be spent on salaries and pensions.

Some important projects in Pune include the setting up of a hydrogen project from waste in Pune, the Warje Multi-Specialty Hospital, the Sinhagad Road Flyover, the River Rejuvenation Project, a dog park, a hydropower plant, and the setting up of charging stations.
