Pune: PMC Reactivates Road Mitra App to Tackle Pothole Complaints
Pune, 20th July 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has reactivated its ‘PMC Road Mitra’ mobile application, allowing citizens to register complaints about potholes on city roads after the service remained unavailable for several months.
The app, launched on August 12, 2025, enables residents to upload photographs or videos of potholes, which are then forwarded directly to the civic body’s road department for action. At the time of its launch, the PMC had claimed that potholes would be repaired within 72 hours of a complaint being registered.
The app, however, had stopped functioning for the past few months due to the non-renewal of its SMS gateway package, preventing citizens from lodging complaints even as the city witnessed widespread potholes following heavy monsoon rains.
The city witnessed heavy rainfall during the first week of July, leading to the formation of potholes on several roads and causing inconvenience to commuters. The issue was also raised during a meeting of the PMC’s standing committee, where chairman Shrinath Bhimale sought an explanation from the administration and directed officials to carry out immediate repairs. He also urged citizens to use the Road Mitra app to report potholes.
Rajesh Bankar, head of the PMC road department, confirmed that the application has been made operational again. “Citizens can once again register complaints about potholes through the Road Mitra app, and prompt action will be taken on the complaints received,” he said.
Under the app’s grievance redressal system, responsibility for repairing a pothole is assigned to the concerned sub-engineer. Once the repair is completed, officials are required to upload photographs of the site before and after the work, after which the complaint is marked as resolved.
