FDA’s AI Complaint Portal Gets 267 Complaints in Pune Division in 4 Days
Pune, 20th July 2026: The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) newly launched AI-powered online complaint portal has received 267 complaints related to food and medicines from the Pune division in just four days, indicating a strong public response to the digital grievance redressal system.
According to FDA officials, the complaints were lodged between July 15 and July 19 through the AI-enabled portal, which allows citizens to report issues related to adulterated food, substandard or counterfeit medicines, expired products and unhygienic food preparation practices.
The FDA officials said that all complaints received through the portal would be scrutinised and appropriate action would be taken after verification. Officials said the AI-based platform has simplified the complaint registration process. After a complaint is filed, food safety officers or drug inspectors visit the concerned establishment for inspection. Samples of food or medicines are collected for laboratory testing wherever required, and action is taken if violations of the Food Safety and Standards Act or drug regulations are established.
The online portal allows complainants to submit grievances in Marathi, Hindi or English through voice or text. The AI assistant converts spoken complaints into written submissions, making the process easier for citizens. Users can also track the status of their complaints online after submission.
Citizens can use the portal to report cases involving food adulteration, expired or poor-quality food products, unhygienic food handling, as well as counterfeit, spurious or substandard medicines. Officials said the initiative is expected to improve public participation in reporting food and drug safety violations while enabling faster action by the department.
