Pune: PMC Releases Draft Ward Structure For Municipal Elections, Citizens Can Register Their Objections And Suggestions Till Feb 14

Pune, 1st February 2022: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) today released the draft notification for the ward structure for the upcoming municipal elections.  

Now citizens can submit their objections and suggestions till February 14. A statement of objections and suggestions will be submitted to the election commission on February 16. A hearing on the objections and suggestions will also be held on February 26. After that PMC will submit the recommendations to the election commission on March 2.

Average 61,000 population in each ward

  • There will be 57 wards of 3 members each and one ward will have two members, thus there will be 58 wards. 
  • Ward No. 13 will have two members. 
  • Average population of the three member ward will be 61,679. 
  • Biggest ward will have 67,847 population and the smallest will have 55,511 population. 
  • Out of total 173 persons, 148 seats will be for open group. 23 Scheduled Castes and 2 Scheduled Tribes will be reserved. 
  • Out of 173 seats, 87 are reserved for women, out of which 12 are reserved for women belonging to Scheduled Castes and 1 for woman belonging to Scheduled Tribes. 
  • There will be 74 open seats for women. 
  • However, once the ward structure is finalized, it will be released for reservation.
