Pune: PMC seeks help from NGOs, donations from people to fight Coronavirus

Pune, March 31, 2020: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner Shekhar Gaikwad has appealed civil socities, NGOs and people to help the civic body in fight against Coronavirus.

There are 26 Coronavirus positive patients found under PMC jurisdiction. Also, PMC has created shelter for migrant workers, homeless people at 15 locations, where about 1500 people have been given shelter.

In his appeal letter dated March 31, Gaikwad stated, “PMC would like to appeal to various Civil Societies/NGOs working voluntarily being part of a worthy cause that has impacted the city due to the outburst of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). PMC is working very hard trying to extend all possible facilities to fight against COVID-19 during the complete lockdown the period since 25′ March 2020.

We appreciate the volunteers lending help to the migrants/citizens with food, medicine or other daily needs things and providing accommodation facilities in hostels for students/migrants/other citizens who are not able to reach their native places due to lockdown.

Pune Municipal Corporation is already geared and working very hard to fight against this crisis and to deal with this public health situation. Understanding the current scenario and fast increase in numbers of patients, PMC is planning to make ICU units in 3 hospitals of Pune with total 50 beds.

We would also appreciate your contribution in upgrading existing unused health infrastructure available with PMC and making it infrastructure-wise and technologically advanced to help patients in getting effective treatments. The indicative list is attached herewith for your consideration.
