Pune: PMC Starts Preparation to Acquire Bhide Wada Land For Construction of National Memorial

Pune 21st Oct 2023: In light of the recent judgment issued by the High Court, Pune Municipal Corporation has initiated the process for land acquisition for the construction of a national memorial in the Bhide Wada premises on Shivaji Road. According to the PMC officials, the process is likely to be completed within three weeks.
This comes after the High Court recently delivered the verdict in favour of the state government and Pune Municipal Corporation. The issue was pending for over 13 years after owners and tenants of Bhide Wada approached the court against the authorities.
The municipal corporation has been instructed to provide compensation to the landowners based on the new rates established according to the Land Acquisition Act of 2013. The municipal administration has already commenced the process of evaluating the updated values of the land as per the court’s orders. Once this evaluation is completed, public notices for land acquisition will be issued. After the 15-day notice period, the final land acquisition will take place through legal means.
