Pune: PMC To Deploy Ex-Soldiers To Guard Sensitive Civic Properties In City

Pune 4th Sept 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation has decided to deploy retired soldiers to guard the sensitive civic properties in the city. A total of 100 former soldiers will be roped in for the service. The officials have identified such properties which need more security than currently being provided by the PMC.
The civic body is joining hands with the government agencies and private companies that work with retired soldiers or paramilitary forces to hire the ex-soldiers on contract basis. The civic body has also planned to provide licensed weapons to some of these soldiers to secure the sensitive civic properties. The officials said that the new recruits under this unique initiative will be deployed at civic properties such as hospitals, cultural centers, water purification plants, gardens and crematoriums etc.
The civic body recruited the retired soldiers in a similar initiative a few years ago and it had received a good response. The idea became popular in a short period and other civic bodies such as Nashik Municipal too followed it.
