Pune 4th Sept 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation has decided to increase the bed capacity of civic hospitals in the city and the municipal commissioner has approved a detailed plan for it. The civic body has also decided to increase the number of staff at these hospitals and it will be implemented in a phased manner.

According to the officials, the bed capacity at the civic hospitals will be increased by 160 beds after the implementation of the proposed plan and it is likely to be done in the next two months. The decision was taken after it was noticed that the number of beds to admit the patients at civic hospitals was not enough due to which a large number of patients were being referred to Sassoon General Hospital for the treatment.
