Pune: PMC To Introduce Mental Health App For Employees’ Well-Being

Pune, 17th January 2025: In response to increasing workloads and insufficient manpower, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to adopt a digital solution to address the mental health challenges faced by its employees. The civic body plans to purchase 2,000 subscriptions to a mental health app at a cost of ₹1.25 crore, funded through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Over the past three years, the daily workload of PMC officers and staff has significantly increased, leading to heightened stress levels and related health concerns. The administration aims to use this app to enhance employee morale and ensure their well-being. A proposal for the purchase was submitted to the standing committee by the municipal administration, with the app procurement set to be managed by the Health Department.
Currently, around 17,000-18,000 employees work across various PMC departments. Many of them face both mental and physical stress due to the demanding nature of their roles. To address these concerns, the PMC has implemented several health-focused measures, including regular health check-ups, wellness guidance, and yoga sessions. The introduction of the mental health app is the latest initiative to further support employee health and resilience.
The app is expected to provide a range of tools and resources to help employees manage stress, improve mental health, and maintain overall productivity.
