Pune, 2nd June 2022: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has undertaken various water schemes for the newly included villages of Soos, Bavdhan and Mahalunge.

A pre-calculated amount of Rs177 crore has been approved for this.

In October 2017, 11 villages were included in the municipal expenditure limits and last year 23 villages were included. Locals and political leaders had lodged complaints with the administration regarding water scarcity in the affected villages.

A petition was also filed in the High Court regarding the same. Considering the severe water shortage in the three villages of Sus, Mahalunge and Bavdhan, the water scheme has been planned by the municipal administration.

There is a plan of Rs.177 crore and apart from these three villages, Wagholi, Manjari, Khadakwasla and other remaining villages, the commissioner has instructed the officials of water supply department to prepare a pre-calculation by June 30 for these other villages.

The Municipal Corporation has undertaken a uniform water supply scheme to ensure equitable supply of water to all parts of the city.
According to the plan, everyone will have 24 hours water supply. Under the scheme, besides laying 1,800 km of new waterways, repairing old and dilapidated waterways, construction of 87 storage tanks and installation of water gauges for residential and commercial properties has been started.

The scheme is also planned to be implemented in 34 villages. The Municipal Corporation has appointed a consultant for this. The work on a similar water supply scheme will start for the villages of Sus, Mahalunge and Bavdhan.
