Pune, 14th December 2024: In a bid to assist thousands of students preparing for competitive exams, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will soon provide affordable and dedicated study spaces. Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale has announced plans to establish study rooms with a capacity to accommodate 700 to 1,000 students.

Every year, a significant number of students from across Maharashtra migrate to Pune to prepare for various competitive exams. However, the city’s lack of affordable and secure study spaces forces many to depend on coaching centers or private facilities, which are often costly.

Key areas like Sadashiv Peth, Navi Peth, Narayan Peth, Shivajinagar, and Shastri Road have become hubs for coaching centers. Students frequently spend long hours studying in classrooms due to the lack of alternative spaces. Recent safety concerns were brought to the forefront after a fire broke out at a coaching center, emphasizing the urgent need for secure study environments.

Addressing this issue, the PMC has decided to repurpose its municipal schools to create safe and quiet study spaces. Commissioner Dr. Bhosale confirmed that several municipal school premises have already been identified for this initiative. The plan includes implementing stringent safety measures to provide a secure environment for students.
