Pune: PMC Approves Additional Rs 14 Crore Payment To Mahametro For Flyover Construction At Nal Stop Chowk
Pune, 14th December 2024: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has approved the payment of ₹14 crore to Mahametro for the construction of a flyover at Nal Stop Chowk on Karve Road. The flyover was built as part of the ongoing metro work on the Vanaz Corner to Ramwadi Metro project.
Mahametro had earlier claimed that the construction costs exceeded the pre-approved budget and had demanded an additional ₹19 crore. After an assessment by the College of Engineering Pune (COEP), the actual additional cost was found to be ₹14 crore, which the PMC has now agreed to pay.
The flyover project was initially approved by the PMC Standing Committee in 2020, with a budget of ₹39 crore. However, the total expenditure for the project has amounted to ₹58 crore. The COEP report confirmed that the additional costs were justified, leading to the approval of the ₹14 crore payment from the PMC’s metro fund, which has a provision of ₹15.80 crore for metro-related expenses.
Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale gave his approval for the payment in the Standing Committee meeting held on 13th December.
