Pune, 17th June 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will soon begin the recruitment process for Junior Engineers. The process, already delayed, will now be conducted for 173 posts. With the inclusion of a 10% reservation for the Socially and Economically Backward Classes (SEBC), the Maratha community is also expected to benefit from this recruitment.

In 2024, PMC had started the recruitment process for 113 Junior Engineer posts through IBPS. A whopping 28,500 candidates applied. However, due to legal complications surrounding the Maratha reservation issue, the process was delayed for over a year.

Following the recent Supreme Court decision that refused to stay the implementation of the Maratha reservation, the path for resuming the PMC recruitment process is now clear.

Prasad Katkar, Deputy Commissioner in charge of PMC’s General Administration Department, confirmed that the recruitment process will soon resume. There are now a total of 173 vacancies across various departments. The original advertisement had announced 113 posts, for which 28,500 candidates had already applied. These applicants will be considered for the new process and do not need to reapply.

However, those who now wish to apply under the SEBC reservation category will be given an online link to update their application details. Their previous applications will remain valid, and they will be allowed to modify them accordingly to avail of the SEBC quota.
