Baner, 2nd April 2025: With summer temperatures soaring across the state in recent days, the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Late Dhananjay Madhukar Tamhane Swimming Pool in Baner has become a popular refuge for citizens seeking relief from the heat. The facility is witnessing a significant increase in visitors, particularly young children and their families, eager to swim and cool off during the ongoing holidays.

The swimming pool has seen a steady influx of people since morning, with crowds flocking to take advantage of its affordable rates and quality coaching. Dr. Tapan Kumar Panigrahi, a Dronacharya Award-winning international coach, is training young swimmers, offering high-quality instruction that has drawn praise from the community. Many national-level athletes are also undergoing training at the facility, adding to its appeal.

Compared to private swimming pools in the Baner area, where fees for swimming lessons range from ₹5,000 to ₹7,000, the PMC pool offers coaching and access at a fraction of the cost. This affordability has made it a preferred choice for families from diverse backgrounds, enabling children from ordinary households to receive professional training.

Parents, too, are joining their children to enjoy the pool’s facilities.
