Pune, 19th June 2025: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has launched a major student welfare initiative for the 2025–26 academic year by beginning the distribution of free and subsidised bus passes for school students residing within the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits. This initiative aims to ease transportation for thousands of students studying in both municipal and private schools.

As part of the scheme, students from PMC-run schools studying in Classes 5 to 12 will be eligible for fully subsidised bus passes, allowing them free travel on PMPML buses. In addition, students from private schools located within the PMC area, from Classes 5 to 10, will receive bus passes at a 75% discount.

The application process for these passes began on 16th June and forms are available at PMPML depots across the city, including Swargate, Narpatgiri Chowk (NT Wadi), Kothrud, Katraj, Hadapsar, Upper Depot, Pune Station, Balewadi, Bhekrainagar, Shewalewadi, Baner, and Wagholi.

According to PMPML authorities, completed application forms will be accepted only at the designated depots. Schools may collect and submit applications in bulk on behalf of their students. In such cases, the passes will also be distributed in bulk, eliminating the need for students to visit the depots individually.

For students from private schools, a payment challan covering 25% of the total bus pass cost (calculated based on travel distance) will be issued after document verification. Once the challan is paid at any Bank of Maharashtra branch within PMC limits, and all necessary documents are submitted along with the application, the students will receive their passes from the respective depot.

Detailed information regarding the scheme is available at all PMPML depots. The PMPML authority has encouraged eligible students and schools to take full advantage of the initiative.
