Pune: PMPML Earns Rs 2 Crore In One Day, Full-Capacity Bus Services Witness Soaring Demand Post-Diwali
Pune, 22nd November 2023: On Monday, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) reaffirmed its popularity as a preferred mode of transportation for residents in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, and the adjoining Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority area. The post-Diwali period saw a surge in travellers returning from villages, resulting in a substantial increase in the number of passengers.
In response to the high demand and to ensure minimal inconvenience to passengers, PMPML implemented full-capacity bus services on all planned schedules. Depot managers were strategically stationed to manage bus traffic and assist passengers at key bus stations.
The conscious efforts of passengers to utilize eco-friendly options, such as smart AC electric buses and CNG buses in the PMPML fleet, have contributed to a more sustainable transportation choice. On the 20th of November, a total of 1698 buses were in operation, with additional buses deployed on high-revenue routes. This resulted in an impressive daily income of Rs 2,06,31,945, with a remarkable 12,23,087 passengers travelling on that day.
Various segments of the population, including labourers, workers, employees, senior citizens, and women, continue to place their trust in PMPML’s bus services. The recent reopening of schools and colleges at full capacity has also led to a significant increase in the number of daily student commuters. The continued growth in daily ridership and revenue reflects the confidence passengers have in PMPML’s bus services.
