Pune 2nd Sept 2023: Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) is set to acquire 100 more new CNG operated buses for its fleet. In a meeting held on Thursday by the executive committee, approval was granted, and the tender process to acquire these buses is expected to commence in the next two weeks.

These buses will be approximately 12 meters long, and it may take a minimum of five to six months to be integrated into the passenger services, said officials. During the meeting of the executive committee, about 15 topics were discussed. During this session, approval was granted for the acquisition of 100 CNG buses, as part of the plan.

Since these buses run on CNG, there should be no major obstacles to their availability. Currently, the introduction of e-buses is facing some challenges, and for the past two years, ‘PMPML’ has been waiting for the delivery of e-buses. Considering this, the induction of new buses will help PMPML improve connectivity in the city.

Currently, PMPML has 981 buses in its fleet, and an additional 1,098 buses are under contract with seven contractors. With the introduction of the new 100 CNG buses, the total number of buses in PMPML’s fleet will increase to 1,081.
