Pune, 16th February 2023: To enhance bus operations, reduce losses, and give commuters better services, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) is creating and implementing a “master plan” in stages. The proposal calls for discontinuing certain low-occupancy late-night and early-morning bus services, fixing general and flawed bus operation timetables, and altering Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus operations, among other things.

Om Prakash Bakoria, chairman and managing director (CMD) of PMPML, and his team of officials conducted a thorough review of all routes in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and rural areas as part of the “route rationalisation” initiative before coming up with the design.

Bakoria personally visited each PMPML depot in the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad regions to gather information for the analysis of the routes, the state of the buses, the needs of the depots, and the expectations of the passengers.

Around 1,705 of the 2,181 buses in the PMPML fleet are now on the road, according to Bakoria. To meet the expanding demands of passengers in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), and Pune rural districts, the PMPML is attempting to boost this number to around 1,800 buses.

In accordance with the PMPML, they are developing a “master plan” to enhance bus operations and passenger services.
