Pune, 4th September 2026: Passengers of the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) will soon be able to apply for and obtain monthly and other bus passes from home, as the transport undertaking has begun work on an online pass system.

The facility is expected to be launched within the next three months and will allow passengers to get passes through their mobile phones or computers, eliminating the need to visit pass centres. The move is expected to benefit students, senior citizens, women and regular commuters while reducing queues and the workload of staff at pass centres.

At present, passengers must visit designated centres and complete the pass process in person. Under the proposed system, monthly as well as other categories of passes will be made available online.

PMPML chairman and managing director Mahesh Awhad said the process to introduce online passes had already begun and the monthly pass facility would be rolled out within three months.

Meanwhile, PMPML is expanding infrastructure for its growing electric bus fleet. Six new charging stations will be installed at the Indiranagar depot in Akurdi, providing charging facilities for 35 electric buses.
