Pune: PMPML to Provide Free Bus Service for Koregaon Bhima Vijaystambh Ceremony

Pune, 29th December 2024: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has announced a free special bus service for devotees attending the Koregaon Bhima Vijaystambh greeting ceremony. The service will operate from 4 pm on Tuesday, December 31, until midnight on Wednesday, January 1, across multiple routes in the Lonikand and Shikrapur divisions.

The Vijaystambh greeting ceremony, held annually at Perne on Nagar Road at the start of the new year, attracts thousands of followers from across Maharashtra and the country. To manage the growing influx of attendees, PMPML has been offering free bus services every year. This initiative ensures safe and hassle-free transportation for devotees to and from the ceremony site, PMPML officials stated on Saturday.

Bus Routes and Schedule

Lonikand Division

  • Tuesday (4 pm to 4 am):
  • 75 buses will operate on routes including Tulapur Phata, Lonikand Wrestling Ground, Khandoba Mal, Chinchwan, Phulgaon School, and Perne village.
  • Wednesday (4 am to 12 am):
  • 250 buses will run on the same routes to accommodate the surge in devotees.

Shikrapur Division

  • Tuesday (7 am onward):
  • 140 buses will connect Shikrapur Road, Jeet Parking Waqf Board, and Pimple Jagtap Chakan Road to Koregaon Bhima Vijaystambh. Additionally, 10 buses will operate from Vadhu Parking Inamdar Hospital to Vadhu village.
  • Wednesday (4 am to 12 am):
  • 350 buses will cover the same routes, ensuring smooth transportation for attendees.

Additional Buses from Key Locations

PMPML will also deploy buses from major hubs across the city to cater to attendees:

  • Pune Railway Station Moledina Bus Stand – 31 buses
  • Manpa Bhawan Bus Stand – 33 buses
  • Dapodi Mantri Niketan – 2 buses
  • Dhole Patil Road Manpa School – 2 buses
  • Upper Depot Bus Stand – 4 buses
  • Pimpri Ambedkar Chowk – 3 buses

In total, 75 additional buses will be operational from these locations to ensure seamless travel for followers.

PMPML officials have urged devotees to take advantage of the free service to avoid traffic congestion and ensure a smooth experience during the ceremony.
