Pune: PMRDA Crane Falls on Shop in Hinjawadi During Hoarding Removal Operation

Hinjawadi, 31st July 2026: A crane engaged in a Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) operation to remove illegal hoardings overturned onto a roadside commercial establishment in Hinjawadi on Friday, causing panic among shopkeepers and passers-by.

The incident took place near Laxmi Chowk, where PMRDA teams were conducting a drive against unauthorised hoardings in the Hinjawadi, Maan and Marunji areas.

According to preliminary information, the heavy crane being used during the operation suddenly became unstable and fell onto a nearby shop.
No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. However, the crane was extensively damaged, while the affected shop and a few adjoining commercial establishments, including hotels, reportedly suffered property damage.

The accident briefly affected normal activity in the busy Hinjawadi IT hub as locals gathered at the spot and authorities assessed the situation.
The exact cause of the crane toppling is yet to be ascertained. PMRDA officials had not issued an official statement on the incident at the time of publication.
