Pune, 14th March 2023: Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is ready to finally pay the construction and development fees of 34 villages included in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). Since 2017, 34 villages have come under the Municipal Corporation. The Municipal Corporation has claimed that the PMRDA has received construction and development fees of around Rs 500 crore from these villages, and the municipality has been continuously pursuing to get this amount.

Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar informed in a press conference on Monday (13th March) that it has been decided to split 75 per cent of the fee to the Municipal Corporation and 25 per cent to the PMRDA.

The Commissioner said that while expanding the limits of the municipal corporation, the state government merged 11 villages in 2017 and 23 more villages in 2021. In 11 villages that were merged in 2017, PMRDA was giving construction permission till 2020. While in 23 villages included in 2021, PMRDA is still allowing construction. However, immediately after the inclusion of these villages, the municipality is providing all the infrastructure facilities in the villages.

So far, the corporation has spent crores of rupees for this purpose. Therefore, both times after the inclusion of the villages, the Municipal Corporation demanded money from the PMRDA. Finally, PMRDA is ready to pay whatever construction fees have been collected from these villages. Since PMRDA has shown the readiness to give 75 per cent of it to the municipality, the municipal corporation will get substantial funds from the same.

PMRDA has done development work in some villages while some development work is going on, and the amount will deduct from the municipality. The commissioner explained that the municipal corporation has agreed to it.

Apart from this, PMRDA has proposed a TP scheme at Mhalunge and even though this village has come under the municipality, the municipality will do the work of the transmission line that needs to be laid to provide water to it and Rs 25 crore will be given by PMRDA for the same.
