Pune, 30th April 2025: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is set to revisit six town planning (TP) schemes previously submitted to the State Government, following Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s recommendation to include roads wider than 18 meters in future planning.

Considering the vision of a “New Pune” within the PMRDA jurisdiction, CM Fadnavis has advised the administration to develop a broader road network before implementing town planning schemes. In response to this, PMRDA Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase announced that all six submitted TP schemes will undergo a thorough review.

These schemes—spread across Man-Mhalunge (250.50 hectares), Manjri-Kolwadi (233.35 hectares), Autade-Handewadi (94.74 hectares), Wadachi Wadi (134.79 hectares), Holkarwadi-4 (158.19 hectares), and Holkarwadi-5 (130.78 hectares)—were prepared by PMRDA following all legal procedures and are currently awaiting final approval from the State Government.

Initially, these plans proposed roads with widths of 9 and 12 meters. However, the Chief Minister’s directive for wider roads has posed a challenge to the existing proposals. Dr. Mhase confirmed that the PMRDA will now reassess the road widths proposed in each scheme. If feasible, necessary modifications will be made before seeking final approval.

Meanwhile, PMRDA has published a list of 140 roads under its jurisdiction that are still within the defect liability period. Citizens are encouraged to report any issues like potholes or surface damage directly to the authority. Repairs will be carried out by the respective contractors as per the agreement, ensuring accountability and maintenance.
