Pimpri Chinchwad, 27th December 2024: The Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) has gained advance possession of 15 acres of land from the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) in Wakad today. Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey successfully followed up on the land acquisition and secured it in just one year and eight months. PCPC, established six years ago, faced significant challenges due to the lack of a dedicated space for the commissionerate, police officer residences, headquarters, and other offices, hindering smooth administrative operations.
After taking charge of the PCPC in December 2022, IPS officer Vinoy Kumar Choubey prioritized acquiring land for the commissionerate. During the search, vacant land in Wakad under the control of PMRDA was identified. CP Choubey submitted a proposal to PMRDA to obtain 15 acres of this land, which was forwarded to the Maharashtra Government’s Ministry of Urban Development. CP Choubey personally followed up on the matter and approached Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar to secure Rs 249.12 crore for the site, which was approved in the supplementary budget.
As a result, PCPC has received advance possession of this land in a remarkably short time. The 15-acre site will house the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2), the Crime Branch’s Anti-Narcotics Cell, the Anti-Extortion Squad and Industry Cell, the Traffic Branch, and other offices. Additionally, facilities such as a multipurpose hall, cafeteria, jogging track, children’s playground, and officer residences, ranging from Police Commissioner to Assistant Police Commissioner, will be built.
