Pune Police Arrest Accused In Fashion Street Firing Case

Camp, 16th June 2022: The sleuths from the Crime Branch unit 2 of the Pune city police have arrested the accused who fired at a trader in Fashion Street on the night of June 14. Police said that the incident was a fall out of enmity between two groups of traders associations.

At around 8 pm, Zulfikar Qureshi shot Taufiq Akhtar Sheikh who sustained injuries and was admitted to Sassoon Hospital for treatment. Taufiq lodged a complaint following which an FIR was registered at Lashkar police station against Zulfikar Qureshi, Tabrez Qureshi, and one Shanu. They are booked for an offence under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

 

Due to the serious nature of the case, the Crime Branch was also ordered to conduct a parallel enquiry. Accordingly, Police Inspector Krantikumar Patil of Unit 2 formed two teams to search for the accused.

 

Head Constable Mohsin Shaikh received a tip-off about one of the accused Nayeem alias Shanu Salim Shaikh, a resident of Bhimpura in Camp. He was caught near Lullanagar chowk on Wednesday (June 15). He has been handed over to Lashkar police station for further investigation.

 

The team included API Vishal Mohite, PSI Rajendra Patole and policemen Nikhil Jadhav, Uttam Taru, Vinod Chavan, Pramod Konkene, Shankar Nevese, Sadhana Tamhane and Mohsin Sheikh.
