Pune Police Arrest Gang Involved In Mobile Shop Theft Worth Rs 44,000

Camp, 7th December 2024: A notorious burglar and his accomplices have been arrested by Pune Police. Four individuals were detained in connection with a burglary at a mobile shop in Pune, during which 10 mobile phones worth thousands of rupees were stolen. The arrests were carried out by the Detection Branch (DB) of Lashkar Police Station.

The police have identified the arrested individuals as Shahrukh Salauddin Khatib (24, resident of Kondhwa), Salim Hasan Shaikh (24), Sarfaraz Pasha Shaikh (22), and Ajim Bablu Shaikh (20), all residents of Bhawani Peth.

A case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 305 (theft in a dwelling house, means of transportation, or place of worship, etc.), 331 (2) (4) (punishment for house-trespass or housebreaking), and 3(5).

According to police reports, on the night of 3rd December, a mobile shop named Cell Express was burglarized. The shop, which was closed at the time, was broken into, and 10 mobile phones worth Rs 44,000 were stolen. A case was initially registered at Lashkar Police Station against unknown culprits.

Under orders from senior officers, the Detection Branch (DB) initiated an investigation. By analyzing CCTV footage, conducting technical investigations, and employing investigative expertise, they identified the four accused and arrested them. Among the arrested individuals, Shahrukh Salauddin Khatib is a notorious burglar with five prior cases of burglary registered against him.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Smartana Patil and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Lashkar Division) Deepak Nikam. The team, led by Senior Police Inspector Girishkumar Dighavkar and Police Inspector (Crime) Pradeep Pawar, included Police Sub Inspector Rahul Ghadage and Police Constables Mahesh Kadam, Somnath Bansode, Sandeep Ukirde, Ramesh Chaudhar, Sachin Manjare, Lokesh Kadam, Haral Kodilkar, and Alka Brahmane. PSI Rahul Ghadage is investigating the case further.
