Pune Police Arrest Moneylender Who Charged 240% Interest Per Annum On Loan

Pune, 10th December 2021: The sleuths from the anti-extortion cell of Pune city police have arrested a 56-year-old moneylender who allegedly took 240% interest on a loan and also demanded Rs 12 lakh as the penalty for delay in payment.

The accused has been identified as Vinod Rama Shinde of Rasta Peth. Piyush Shah has registered the case against him at Samarth police station.

According to the police, Shah had taken a loan of Rs two lakh from Shinde between June 2020 and September 2021 and had repaid Rs 28 lakh. After September he did not repay following which the accused threatened him and demanded Rs 12 lakh as the penalty for the delay.

Police have charged the accused of extortion and illegal moneylending business.

The action was taken under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ramnath Pokle, DCP (Crime) Shriniwas Ghadge, ACP (Crime 2) Laxman Borate and Police Inspector Balaji Pandhare.

The team included Police Sub Inspector Shrikant Chavan and police personnel Vijay Gurav, Shailesh Shailesh Surve, Pradip Shitole, Vinod Salunke, Rahul Utarkar, Saidoba Bhojrao, Sangram Shingare, Sachin Ahiwale, Amol Pilane, Pravin Padwal, Pradip Gade, Mohan Yelpalle, Chetan Shirolkar, Rupali Karnwar, and Asha Kolekar.
