Pune Police Arrest Trio for Kidnapping and Extortion; Victim Rescued Safely

Chandan Nagar, 5th July 2025: The Detection Branch (DB) of Chandan Nagar Police Station has successfully arrested three men for kidnapping a man and demanding a ransom of Rs 2 lakh. The victim was safely rescued within 24 hours of the complaint being filed.
According to police reports, the accused, Gautam Potbhare (37), Abhijeet Potbhare (27), and Shubham Maykar (25), all residents of Beed, abducted the victim on 30th June from the Vadgaonsheri area while he was on his way to work.
The victim’s wife received a ransom call at home demanding Rs 2 lakh. She immediately rushed to Chandan Nagar Police Station and filed a complaint.
The police team quickly launched an investigation, scanning CCTV footage and conducting technical analysis. Based on the findings, Police Sub-Inspector Ajay Asawale and constables Shinde and Lahane identified the accused and arrested them from Beed. The abducted victim was rescued safely.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of senior Pune Police officials, with the team led by Senior Police Inspector Seema Dhakane of Chandan Nagar Police Station.
