Pune police busts fake call centre in Kharadi
Pune – Officials from the Pune city police claimed to have busted a fake call centre in Kharadi, which allegedly cheated by stealing their credit card information. The company also duped people and Internet service providers in the name of software giant Microsoft.
Police have arrested Pravin Jaiswal (37), a resident of Kharadi and Ajit Dhamdhere (33) of Talegaon Dhamdhere, of Tringify Solutions which operated in Kharadi.
According to police, the incident took place between June 2015 and November this year at the company office at Juhi corner on the Kharadi bypass. The accused used to steal credit card information from different websites and then misused them. They also used voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) to call people and Internet service providers in the name of Microsoft and cheating case.
Based on a complaint from Police Inspector Kadam of the anti-dacoity cell from the crime branch, an FIR has been registered against the two arrested accused for offences under sections 420 (cheating), 379 (theft) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act.
Though the FIR has been registered with local Chandan Nagar police station, the case will be investigated by senior police Inspector Babar of Swargate police station.
