Pune Police Check 1200 Criminals In Four Hours Of Combing Operation

Pune, December 16, 2020: The Pune city police launched a massive combing operation within the limits of 30 police stations in the bid to nab criminals. In this operation, the police raided the homes of 1,200 criminals on record. Four pistols and 50 different types of weapons were seized in this complete operation.

This type of action began on Tuesday night around 9 pm to 1 am in a different part of the slums and localities in the city. Under this operation, 1213 criminals on police records were investigated. Out of these, 572 criminals were found and 57 criminals were found with sharp-edged weapons.

DCP Bachchan said, “223 externed criminals were checked, out of which 9 were found (6 by crime branch) and 142 Maharashtra Police Act cases registered against them.”

He further said, “5 pistols and 9 rounds were seized by the crime branch, along with 30 sharp-edged weapons. Anti-narcotics conducted checking of offenders of narcotics and seized 12 gms MD and 1.2kg ganja. Social security cell checked lodges and rescued 3 victims and arrested one accused in the PITA case. Anti-extortion cell checked 328 gang members and 79 were found”.

Five zonal DCPs, DCP crime, 12 ACPs, 30 inspectors of police station, 9 crime branch field units, and their teams, 28 probationary sub-inspectors participated in the combing operation. Joint CP, Additional CP Crime supervised the operation.

“The operation was carried out with the help of 10 crime branch units and local police within the limits of 30 police stations to curb criminals in the city. This type of action will continue”, said Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta at a press conference on Wednesday.

Joint Commissioner Dr Ravindra Shisve, Additional Commissioner (Crime) Ashok Morale, DCP (Crime) Bachchan Singh were present at the press conference today.
