Pune Police Commissioner Invokes MCOCA Against 16 Accused In Sharad Mohol Murder Case

Pune, 28th January 2024: Commissioner of Police Retesh Kumaarr has initiated action under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) against 16 individuals, including Ganesh Marne and Vitthal Shelar, who orchestrated the murder of notoious goon Sharad Mohol. Mohol was shot dead on January 5 in the Sutardara area of Kothrud by Munna Polekar and his associates.

 

The arrested individuals, named in the case by the Crime Branch, include Sahil alias Munna Santosh Polekar, Namdev Mahipati Kangude, Amit alias Amar Maruti Kangude, Chandrakant Shahu Shelke, Vinayak Santosh Gavankar, Vitthal Kisan Gandle, Adv. Ravindra Pawar, Adv. Sanjay Udan, Vitthal Shelar, Ramdas alias Waghya Marne, Dhananjay Maruti Vatkar, Satish Sanjay Shedge, Nitin Ananta Khaire, Aditya Vijay Gole, and Santosh Damodar Kurpe.

 

The investigation has revealed Ganesh Marne and Vitthal Shelar as the masterminds behind the murder, prompting the proposal for MCOCA action. Commissioner of Police Kumaarr has ordered action in this regard.

 

The Crime Branch, led by Additional Commissioner of Police Ramnath Pokle and DCP Amol Zende, is conducting the investigation. ACP Sunil Tambe is the investigating officer.

 

All the arrested accused, including Vitthal Shelar, have been remanded to judicial custody and lodged at the Yerwada Central Jail.

 

Meanwhile, Ganesh Marne, who is still wanted in the case, has applied for pre-arrest bail through his lawyers.
