Pune: Police Commissioner Seals Two Places Used For Prostitution
Pune, October 13, 2020: In a major step towards illegal activities and human trafficking, Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta today ordered the closure of two places which were used being used for prostitution. The social security (SS) cell under the Crime Branch had busted sex racket at these places.
DCP (Crime Branch) Bachchan Singh said, “The raids were conducted under the jurisdiction of Faraskhana and Swargate police stations. The concerned police stations sent proposals for the closure of these places to the Police Commissioner who issued orders under sections 18 and 20 of Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA) for the further legal proceedings regarding the closure of brothels. Action by SS cell will continue against places being used for prostitution.”
Under Swargate police station, the place to be closed is Ayurveda Panchkarm Body Treatment Centre, first floor in Shahaj Centre, Pune-Satara road. The brothel under Faraskhana police station was located at flat no. 6, third floor, Juni Sagar building, 1032, Budhwar Peth. They are being sealed so that prostitution does not take place there again.
