Pune: Police Constable Dismissed from Service for Escorting Gutkha Trader

Pune, April 12, 2020: After a police constable of Shirur police station was found escorting Gutkha trader on Saturday night, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sandip Patil of Pune rural police today dismissed the constable from service.

An FIR has been registered with Narayangaon police station against Police Constable Kishore Dnyandev Dhawde. He was found escorting Hanif Ibrahimbhai Tamboli (57) of Shirur in a car without any number plate. Dhawde was stopped at Manjarwadi check post by police Patil but he sped away saying he is going for dinner.

According to police, the car was chased for about 1.5 km by a police team and gutkha worth Rs 30,000 was seized from the car. Later it was found that they had purchased gutkha from Irfan Momin of Alephata and were on the way to Shirur when they were caught.

Constable Dhawde was on night duty but instead, he was found escorting Gutkha trader, hence he was dismissed from service for bringing disrepute to the police department, according to Pune rural police SP.
