Pune Police Deploy Massive Force To Ensure Security For Kasba By-Elections

Pune, 24th February 2023: Pune Police has deployed 1,500 police personnel along with various squads and officers to ensure strict security in the Kasba by-election area. The voting will be held on Sunday (February 26). The police have taken immediate measures to provide security to the citizens so that they can vote without fear.

Commissioner of Police Retesh Kumarr informed in a press conference that various teams, including quick response teams and zonal teams, will be working with the police stations in the respective areas.

“Strict action would be taken against anyone who violates the law. We have laid emphasis on peaceful conduct of polling, and citizens are urged to cast their votes without fear”, he said.

The Kasba by-election area comprises 270 booths in Khadak, Faraskhana, Vishrambaug, Samarth, and Dattawadi police stations. Out of these booths, the Election Commission has declared nine as sensitive, for which a contingent of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has been deployed. Meanwhile, 29 units of CRPF have been deployed for buildings with more than four booths.

To ensure the peaceful conduct of polling, the Pune Police have deployed several teams. These include 15 Immediate Response Teams for sector patrolling, 10 Quick Response Teams for patrolling within police station limits, and five Crime Response Teams for immediate crime investigation. Furthermore, three Divisional Response Teams and three Zonal Response Teams have been deployed for patrolling and striking force, respectively. Additionally, 40 teams of Two Wheeler Patrolling (Beat Marshall) and three Senior Officers Striking teams have been deployed.

The police officer deployment includes Commissioner of Police, Joint Commissioner, two Additional Commissioners, five DCPs, five ACPs, 20 Inspectors, 90 API, five companies of CRPF, 700 police personnel, 300 Home Guards, and one company of SRPF.
