Pune: Police Enforce Strict Measures as Lonavala Welcomes Thousands for New Year Celebrations
Lonavala, 30th December 2024: With thousands of tourists flocking to Lonavala from Pune, Mumbai, and other cities to celebrate New Year’s Eve, the Lonavala police have announced strict measures to ensure law and order.
Police Inspector Kishor Dhumal of the Lonavala Rural Police Station, Pune rural police, has warned against unruly behavior and violations, including excessive noise or public disturbances caused by intoxicated individuals.
“Tourists should celebrate the occasion with enthusiasm, but they must respect the rules. Strict action will be taken against anyone causing a nuisance on the roads after drinking or engaging in rowdy behavior,” Inspector Dhumal stated.
Popular spots like Tiger Point, Lion’s Point, and Pawana Dam are expected to witness large crowds, prompting the police to enhance patrolling and surveillance in these areas. The police have emphasized maintaining a peaceful atmosphere, urging tourists to enjoy responsibly and avoid creating disturbances.
As in previous years, ensuring women’s safety remains a top priority for the authorities. Police teams have been deployed across the town and major tourist spots to address any incidents of harassment. “If anyone is found harassing women, they will face strict legal action,” Dhumal warned.
The police have also addressed concerns regarding loud music during the celebrations. DJs and event organizers have been reminded to obtain the necessary permissions and adhere to the prescribed time limits for playing music. “Action will be taken against those who violate the rules,” Dhumal added, appealing to all parties to cooperate in maintaining order.
As Lonavala gears up for another vibrant New Year’s Eve, the authorities have urged all visitors to celebrate responsibly and contribute to a safe and joyous environment.
