Excise Officials Seize Rs 1.2 Crore Worth of Illegal Liquor in Pune Region

Pune, 30th December 2024: In a major operation, Pune Excise officials have seized illegal liquor, manufactured in Goa, worth ₹1.2 crore during raids conducted at two locations in the region. Nine individuals have been detained in connection with the case.

A luxury bus and four other vehicles used to transport the illicit liquor were also confiscated during the operation.

Superintendent Charan Singh Rajput of the Pune region’s State Excise Department revealed that 21 teams have been formed to intensify actions in the lead-up to New Year celebrations. “This proactive measure aims to curb illegal liquor trade during the festive period, which often sees a spike in such activities,” he said.

The department has been ramping up efforts to ensure compliance with excise laws and maintain order during the holiday season. Further investigations are underway.
